The anticipated deal between European telecoms operators Sonera of Finland and Telia of Sweden has taken place in a $17.6 billion deal that will see Sonera effectively taken over by its Swedish rival. The company will now be headquartered in Sweden with 64% of shares owned by Telia shareholders.
