Office Friendly chairman Graeme Chapman MBE again beat all previous records at the 17th annual Children in Need event held on Friday 19 November. On the 25th anniversary of the BBC's event the teams raised an incredible £57,140, beating last year's total by £11,000.
The main sponsor of the climb is Kingfield Heath, with 3M the main Supplier sponsor for the past five years. Depite three foot snow drifts and temperatures of minus 14c at 3,000 feet, including wind chill, every one of the 12 teams reported the best winter day on the mountains ever and all reached their goals, climbing 29,034 feet, just one foot short of the height of Everest. To make up the extra foot, Chapman made his speeches from a one foot high stool.
The top fund raisers were Bob Geens of Advantia, David Fielding of Heatons Stationers, Frank Bayliss of 3M, Nigel Mitchel of Kingfield Heath, Roger Clarke of Clarkes of Nottingham, Martin Wallis of Acco Eastlight and Alistair Kirkpatrick of Wm Sinclair.
