Mailing company Neopost has entered into an agreement to acquire Ascom Hasler from the Ascom Group. This is part of Ascom’s strategy to divest units that do not fit into its future core business and follows the sale of Ascom Better Packaging to Grafham Holdings in September.
Ascom Hasler is the mailing systems business that sells franking machines and ancillary products including postal scales, letter openers, barcode readers and mailstackers. The business is being sold for CHF 359 million and is said to increase Neopost’s global market share from 15% to 25%.
Subject to regulatory approval, the acquisition is expected to be complete by the beginning of 2002.
