Matsushita is said to be considering the future of its last UK production plant after reporting operating losses of £20 million. The company says the losses are due to falling demand in the mobile phone market and the general slow down in the high tech market.
Matsushita says no firm decisions have been made on the closure of the UK plant which employs 450 people to build Panasonic mobile phones. Reports in the Japanese press say the company could consolidate its production in the Czech Republic.
