Ericsson is to become the first mobile phone operator to stop the production of handsets. The world’s third largest supplier of mobile phones has 10% of the worldwide market for handsets but has taken the decision in a bid to stop the losses being made in its consumer products division.
While the company has confirmed its commitment to the mobile phone market this decision could affect 12,000 employees involved in manufacturing and related activities.
