The market for information technology and telecommunications (ICT) in the European Union will experience growth of 2.9 per cent in 2005, to a total value of Euro 614 billion, according to the latest study by the market research organisation European Information Technology Observatory. The increase is twice as much as for the EU economy as a whole.
"The ICT markets in Europe are still showing solid positive growth," said EITO chair Bruno Lamborghini in presenting the study. "As expected, the new EU member states are taking the lead in this growth process. In many
countries of Central and Eastern Europe, rates of increase are in double
figures." This positive development should continue in 2006.
