US telecoms group Verizon Communications is thought to be close to selling its European yellow pages directories business in a deal estimated to be worth up to £200 million. Last year it put its holdings in four yellow pages businesses in Austria and Eastern Europe up for sale in order to pay off debt and is believed to be close to signing a deal with UK private equity house 3i and US media financial company Veronis Suhler.
