Siemens Communications is to supply the enterprise infrastructure to transform one of Europe’s largest private managed networks to support IP telephony. The Siemens’ contract, awarded by Global Crossing, involves upgrading the existing voice network that Global Crossing uses to deliver fully managed services to more than 110,000 public sector personnel located at 550 locations.
Based on Siemens’ HiPath technology, the solution includes the ability to use any device, in any location, and enjoy all the functionality of the desk phone, irrespective of network infrastructure. Paul Moulds, director of marketing, Siemens Communications says the solution gives users all the functionality they need all of the time. "Wherever they are and whatever device they choose to use Siemens has developed and integrated IP-based voice applications into the core infrastructure that provide a clear route to realising real improvements in productivity and associated economic benefits, a key goal for any organisation today."
