Matsushita, the Japanese electronics company and owner of the Panasonic brand, has announced plans to create a new European research and development base at Thatcham in Berkshire. The project will ultimately create 400 new jobs.
Japan and Germany account for around 8% of overseas investment in the UK, with the US at the top of the list at 50%. Recent reports state that US interest has slowed because of the problems with the US economy.
