UPM-Kymmene boosts label business with MACtac acquisition
Finnish paper maker UPM-Kymmene is to buy MACtac, a self-adhesive materials unit, from US company Bemis for $420 million in cash. At the same time it is to sell its plastic films manufacturer Walki Films to Bemis Company for $70 million.
The MACtac business will boost UPM’s Raflatac label business that is established in North Carolina, in addition to its European and Asian operations. It brings a 2001 turnover of $500 million to Raflatac’s $670 million and increases the breadth of the product portfolio.
