NEC extends Bell deal

NEC has signed a distribution agreement with Bell Microproducts to strengthen its position in the UK data storage market. The new channel partnership with Bell, which in the UK operates under the brand name Ideal, means NEC will work with the company to increase market share of its automatic back-up solutions for small and mid-sized companies. The new agreement will support the launch of a new channel Partner Programme for NEC’s data storage and back-up products. NEC also recently announced an agreement with Primary Storage. Both channel partners will enjoy priority over existing products and the new range of tape solutions due to be launched in the UK during quarter 3 of 2004. Andrew Wyllie, commercial manager for NEC’s Data Storage Business in the UK, says: "Ideal has built an excellent reputation for supplying IT storage products in the UK, and is particularly well established in the tape market. NEC UK is committed to strengthening sales in this sector and duplicating the success of the NEC Corporation in Japan, which has secured 85% of the autoloader market for magnetic tape drives. This new partnership will be a key growth driver moving forward." Bell Microproducts is an international, value-added provider of a wide range of high-technology products, solutions, and services to the industrial and commercial markets. The company's offering includes semiconductors, components, computer platforms, and peripherals. 27-May-2004
