The technology of the future is Voice over wireless local area network (VoWLAN). According to reasearch company Frost & Sullivan it is fast emerging as the converged technology of the future as it seamlessly combines WLAN with Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). The company says that although VoWLAN currently faces several challenges in its path to adoption, major factors such as the introduction of dual-mode handsets and the ratification of various 802.11 standards indicate a positive market outlook beginning in the year 2005.
