Corporate Express is rationalising its warehouse and customer service operations as part of a cost cutting exercise.
The regional warehouses affected by the move are Elstree and Cumbernauld which will will be relocated to the Birmingham warehouse and offices which were acquired through the acquisition of Universal. Elstree is to be provided with new offices and will absorb the Southall customer service branch, while the Dunfermline and Edinburgh sites will come together with Cumbernauld in a new sales office.
Other customer service sites in Newcastle and Washington will be merged into a single unit, with new offices in Tyne and Wear and Grantham becoming part of the customer service operation at Wakefield. It is unclear at this stage how many job losses, if any, will
be involved.
