US wholesaler United Stationers has reported increased earnings for the fourth quarter and full year 2003. The company earned $21.9 million for the fourth quarter 2003, compared with $1.4 million a year ago, and net sales were up 2.1% from $923.4 million to $942.6 million.
For the full year 2003 the company reported a net income of $73 million, a 21.2% increase on 2002, and net sales of $3.8 billion, up 3.9% from $3.7 billion the previous year.
The company says it expects relatively modest sales growth in 2004 as economic indicators for the industry continue to be mixed.
