Sky and Sony UK have announced a major new marketing agreement to promote the benefits of High Definition (HD) television. In a move that brings together two of the biggest brands in home entertainment,
the companies will work together to promote the huge advance in picture and
sound quality that HD will bring to television viewers from next year.
Sky intends to launch a broad package of HD channels across the UK and
Ireland in the first half of 2006, including sports, movies, entertainment,
documentary and arts channels. As well as experiencing the intensity and
rich detail of HD pictures, customers will enjoy the added benefit of Dolby
Digital 5.1 sound.
As a critical element to the company’s ongoing strategy, Sony is committed
to making a significant investment in HD in professional and consumer
markets.
