RPL Business Systems Ltd in Uxbridge has been bought by The Danwood Group. The acquisition of the £3 million company expands Danwood’s presence in the South and brings on board an additional 45 people. The company will move to Danwood’s premises in Iver and become part of the company’s southern regional business. RPL was set up by Ian Hixon and Graham Mann in 1986 to sell Sharp and Ricoh copiers. It now supplies customers with complete digital solutions. The directors will stay on with the company.
The £50 million Danwood Group was set up in 1971. With head offices in Lincoln, it has 14 branches around the country and employs over 500 people. Two years ago it acquired the fast-growing Chartwell Business Group and its sales operation for London and the South East became The Danwood Chartwell Group, but now trades fully as Danwood.
Last November when the company acquired the reprographics business of Wagstaff Brothers in London, managing director for the South East, Adam Hackett, said there was a strategic plan in place to achieve ‘significant and rapid growth’ in the region over the next 12 months. This latest acquisition is seen as a significant step forward to achieving that plan.
