Following this week’s announcement that Centerprise International is to invest £11.6 million in a new Welsh facility, Sun Microsystems has announced plans to invest £36 million in its UK plant. The money will be used to increase capacity at its factory in West Lothian.
The good news comes after last month’s announcement that the US-based giant had suffered a loss of £1.4 billion. In October it said it would cut its International workforce by 11%. The West Lothian factory, Sun’s only overseas facility, saw investment of £26 million in May 2000, creating 200 engineering and production jobs.
