In what is described as the most radical change in nearly 100 years the BOSS Federation is to sell its Wimpole Street property in London and move to more suitable business premises outside of the city.
Chief executive Keith Davies says the federation has recognised that it needs to ‘re-engage with its members’ and he plans to cut bureaucracy to create a more ‘relevant, value for money organisation’. “Over recent years the needs of the industry and its membership have changed but the traditional, and some would say bureaucratic, structure of the Federation has slowed down its ability to respond to the fast pace of developments.”
As part of restructuring plan there will be less reliance on the services of unpaid volunteers, the old dual Review and Federation Management Committee structure will be replaced with a single Management Board and Wimpole Street will be sold and the proceeds used to buy a more practical and accessible building close to the western M25. The sale will also release the funds needed for increased staffing and investment in IT to support the new initiatives.
Davies says: “Our challenge is to maintain the existing core strengths of the BOSS Federation while creating a new and useful range of services that will enhance the value of membership and serve the industry better.”
