The Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a civil suit against David Myers, former financial controller at WorldCom, alleging that he broke several securities laws when participating in the telecoms group’s accounting fraud. The suit was filed yesterday as Myers pleaded guilty to three fraud charges following a three month investigation into his role in the fraud by the US Department of Justice. A sentencing date was set for 26 December. This is the first guilty plea since the WorldCom fraud was uncovered in June.
