Select Seating, the office seating subsidiary of Acorn Office Supplies, is to expand its range of products to offer the ‘largest selection of chairs in East Anglia’.
The business was set up eight years ago when Acorn could not find chairs of the right quality at the right price for its customers. They began to manufacture their own so that they could ensure consistent quality, but Stan Johnson says there are some chairs that cannot be made cost effectively and they are now looking to import products to expand the range.
The business currently turns over £750,000 and has a showroom in Bury St Edmunds. Stan and Jonquil Johnson, who set up Acorn Office Supplies 18 years ago and recently sold it to Inkwell Direct, are to retire from the business and their son Ian Johnson will run the Select Seating subsidiary. Paul Johnson is heading up Acorn Office Supplies under its new ownership.
